When working with your pet sitter, find out what type of care they will provide to your pet when the pet is ill or becomes hurt. They should have your vet's phone number and contact information. You may even find that they have their own vet on call in case of emergencies.

Pet sitters that you hire should be insured. If something should happen to someone that comes near to a pet that doesn't want them to, and your pet reacts, you could be liable if the pet sitter does not have the right insurance to protect them from this type of situation.
